Owner & Personal Training Director
My name is Scott Goldberg and I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. I have worked in the fitness industry over the past ten years and this passion has become a journey. It started for me in 1995 when my father had a heart attack and immediately needed a quadruple bypass surgery at the age of forty nine years old. He had many of the risk factors such as high blood pressure, Type II Diabetes, a smoker, overweight and a family history of heart disease. As I grew older, this incident impacted me greatly. In my twenties, I became a school administrator and gained a lot of weight due to the hours of my job, raising young children and stress. Eventually, the doctor approached me about a lifestyle change when I went for my physical. I thought of my father and made the decision to make a permanent lifestyle change. One year dedicated to diet and exercise changed my life and I made the decision that my purpose in life is to inspire and motivate others to have a love of fitness, while also enjoying life.
Since 2006, I have been in the fitness industry as a personal trainer. Over this time, I have relied on my high school teaching experience to continually create engaging exercises and to continually vary routines as I am always seeking the latest fitness trends out there. I also became a Functional Fitness Specialist and have the experience to assist clients with shoulder, lower back and knee issues. I work with chiropractors as well as physical therapists as we compliment the services we provide to ensure that the client is progressing. My philosophy has always been that we work with what we have, not with what we don’t.
I also specialize in body weight and management. Over the years, I have assisted many clients body transformations as well have developed a Body Weight and Management Academy using the DotFit system determining goals in three strands (weight loss, muscle tone, athletic performance). Based on the goal, a program is developed with a monitoring system that allows the client to live on the weekends, while still getting the results that they desire. Many clients throughout the years have changed their mindset and have yielded high results with both muscle tone and weight loss.
Teaching boot camp classes and boxing is my favorite part of training. It is an opportunity to create routines that foster team building and also gives me the opportunity to help clients reach new levels of progress in a supportive environment. Clients experience a full body workout utilizing many different types of equipment such as kettle bells, slam balls, club bells, battle ropes, boxing and more! The routines are continually changed to promote muscle shock and progress. As a Functional Fitness Specialist, I have the ability to service clients with orthopedic restrictions and all fitness levels with modifications.
Whether you are just starting your journey or are experiencing a plateau, take the opportunity to either call or email me for a free assessment. It may just be this decision that will empower you to live a longer life with good health and wellness.
As I have evolved through my life, I always look at the next step, goal or challenge for me. Take a look at what I have been working on lately. I was born into a very active family. My father ran marathons and my mother owned an aerobics company. At the age of 12, I started an after school program teaching aerobics under my mother’s business and ran numerous races with my father. Once in high school, I sustained injuries in a car accident (scoliosis) and was advised to not workout anymore and would always be in pain. Knowing that the sedentary lifestyle was causing more pain and constant migraines, I started Tai Chi for the health benefits, which led to Kung Fu and Wushu and competition sparring and forms. During college, I taught self defense classes and Kung Fu with Master Pan.
After starting a family I became a fire fighter for Anne Arundel County then an aviation fire fighter, where being in the best shape was essential to the community. After several head traumas and broken helmets, I sustained herniation’s to my neck which caused me to be on temporary disability. During the release evaluation I was told that the herniation’s in my neck would cause me to be a quadriplegic without a fusion of the cervical spine within three years and that no care would help other than the surgery. With complete devastation, I sought the advice of the chiropractic team that had been assisting in my improvement. They requested a second opinion from another neurosurgeon, which resulted in the beginning of an amazing passion and new career for me.
I started studying everything and always asking questions regarding spinal issues with every professional and began massage school. I continued to work out but added extensive self-care, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, craniosacral massage to my regimen and continued to improve. After three years of focusing on self-care, educating myself by getting others experiences and furthering my education, my scoliosis and herniated discs were repaired. I continued my studies to include personal training/nutrition and am currently working on my doctorate in Alternative medicine and Holistic Healing. Being a part of Xcelerated Fitness is a wonderful opportunity to empower a community to adopt a life style of overall health and wellness.
