Karen's Journey...

Picture
Many of you asked that I share my weight loss success story. So here it is. Unfortunately, I inherited my "fat" genes friends my Father's side of the family. Research has proven that being overweight can be inherited. Several of my close families have died due to obesity. I've had to watch my weight all my of my life. I was able to maintain a decent weight until I was 50. I then experienced some health issues and the medication I was on guaranteed weight gain. I felt that I was doomed to be obese the rest of my life. At age 55 I reached rock bottom. I weighed 310 pounds and saw no end in sight. I also worked most of my life in stressful jobs that I felt contributed to my weight. Yet another excuse. Then one day my sister's 5 year old granddaughter asked me why was I so fat. I knew then that I needed to lose weight. I was able to lose 70 pounds with diet and exercise but stopped there. Then, 7 years ago I joined Scott's classes and my transformation continued. Even though I felt better I still needed to lose weight. My doctor told me at that time that it would be very difficult to lose anymore weight because of the medication I was taking at that time and my age was a huge factor in losing more weight. Because of friends, family's support, my fit family and Scott's Academy and mostly Scott I attribute all of my recent weight loss. Scott believed in me and it made all the difference in my journey to reach my goal. People continue to ask me if I had weight loss surgery and I tell them that I lost all of my weight because of a healthy diet, exercise and support from the most important people in my life. I still feel insecure at times because of my age and my limitations I cannot do exercises that all of you do but each and everyone one of you support me in class and it means so much to me. I still have back and knee issues but Scott always provides me with an alternative. I can't thank you enough for your understanding and support. I am 2 pounds from reaching my goal 😀but I have dropped 6 sizes since I have been working with Scott. My advice is to never give up regardless of your thoughts that tell yourself that you can't do it. I still go through weeks without losing a pound and yes I do still gain a few pounds here and there. Also when I crave unhealthy food I always think how hard it is to burn those extra calories in class! Never give up on your goal and always continue to strive the self confidence to reach your goal! He always makes time if you need that extra "push." I apologize for the long posting but if I have helped at least one of you I am blessed. Lastly you have all made a positive difference in my life! P.S. I am 60 and feel great. Again, thank you for everything!

Recently, I was sorting through photos and found a picture from 15+ years ago, before my journey started. I still remember feeling insecure about the way I looked and always wore a larger size and baggy clothing. I gained a lot of weight over about 18 months, and each time I stepped on the scale the weight gradually kept increasing. After buying the size up to be comfortable as a quick fix several times, I realized that it was not the answer. I felt tired of all the time and did not feel good about myself at all.
